JDBC

JDBC stands for Java Data Base Connectivity.
Java uses JDBC to  interact with various DataBase products belonging to various enterprises.
Apart from JDBC, the database to be used has to have a driver as well for proper functioning

Native protocols (eg Java and Oracle)
