Rpi 3 has in built WiFi and Bluetooth. That is true. But in order to drive these software support is not required. Software support one gets when using the OS provided by Rpi; Raspbian. This is not the case with Buildroot. I had to include stuff explicitly in order to make Rpi 3 behave as it is supposed to. This was done by adding the required utilities for WiFi and BT for Rpi 3 to the Buildroot packages.
